Plus Size White Wedding Dresses David s Bridal Under 500

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of David's Bridal. All opinions are 100% mine.

When Steve and I got engaged in October, I told myself I wouldn't start thinking about wedding planning until we made it through the holidays. So much happened in 2017 that we needed a moment to decompress and be present without starting another big undertaking: a wedding! Now that we're into 2018, I started the year off with an appointment at David's Bridal to look at wedding dresses. It's really easy to book an appointment online to shop for bridal dresses, or even special occasion dresses and accessories.

Browsing wedding dresses with David's Bridal consultant Annie

For as much as I love fashion and shopping, being plus size is a challenge when looking for something that fits your vision. This is why so much of my shopping is done online – I simply have access to more styles and sizes than I do in most stores. For a purchase as important as a wedding dress, I knew I needed to shop in person to try on everything I wanted.

The problem with many bridal salons, however, is that they don't have plus size samples. They may have a size 12 sample gown that those 14 and under can try on, but for those of us in the larger sizes, we simply have to imagine what the dress would look like on our bodies. Talk about a completely underwhelming shopping experience, not to mention the monetary investment on something that may or may not live up to your expectations once it comes in and you're only a few months away from your wedding day!

For this reason, David's Bridal was the first place I thought to shop. I knew they had a large selection of plus size samples in comparison to some other stores, but when I got there, I was really blown away by the sheer number of samples available to me. I met with my consultant, Annie, who asked several questions about the timing and location of the wedding, what I was thinking style-wise, what I wanted to avoid, etc.

I was then able to browse the front of the store with my friend, Anne. I wasn't relegated to a small plus size section in a back corner somewhere! Annie explained that all the gowns with pink markers on the hanger were available in extended sizes. I was shocked that all the ones I liked were available in plus. It was a relief, to be honest. The last thing a bride wants to do is settle for a dress only because it was available in her size!

Once we selected some styles I liked, Annie did all the heavy lifting and started pulling dresses in sample sizes that would fit me. This was key because as a size 24/26, even plus samples in an 18 wouldn't be an option depending on the silhouette. I was really excited when there were multiple that I could try on.

Just a few of the dresses I tried on.

You want to see some of them, right?! Here are just a few that I tried on:

Dress 1: Big, floofy, and so much fun. Also, much lighter than it looks! White by Vera Wang Plus Size Organza Dress

Dress 2: An unexpected surprise that I nixed on the hanger, but the ladies at David's Bridal plus my friend Anne asked that I try it on. Tulle Plus Size Wedding Dress with Lace Cap Sleeve

Dress 3: The one with pockets! This dress had a couple of tricks: 1) pockets; 2) the beaded inset panel in the V-neck is removable for a more plunging look. Satin Cummerbund Plus Size Wedding Dress

Dress 4: Strapless lace A-line loveliness. Tulle A-Line Plus Size Wedding Dress with Lace

As you can see, I was able to try a variety of styles to get a better idea of what I'd like (this is just a handful of what I tried!) In addition to my consultant, Annie, I was also happy to have the input of the store manager and also someone from alterations that could answer questions about what could be changed on the dresses: adding more bling, changing a neckline to a sweetheart, etc.

I had a really fun time with the ladies at the Louisville David's Bridal location. Thank you for making my plus size wedding dress experience one that I could actually enjoy, instead of feeling bad about not fitting into the samples.

I'm not going to give away any indication as to my favorite, but I would love to hear what you all think of these! Let me know in the comments, or on social media!
